| Egyptian Student Program - Islamic Studies |

PROGRAM GOAL:
Provides opportunities for graduates of the Faculties of Islamic Studies at Al Azhar University to pursue master's degrees, or Ph.D. degrees and to conduct research in Islamic Studies in the United States.
GRANT TYPES:
· Master’s Degree Grants, up to two years, for persons wishing to pursue master’s degrees in the U.S.
· One-year grants, for persons registered for Ph.D. degrees who wish to conduct research in the U.S.
· Ph.D. grants for persons wishing to pursue Ph.D. studies in the U.S.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
· Egyptian citizenship; holders of U.S. green cards and/or passports are ineligible.
· Al Azhar University graduate
· Nomination by a facuty member of Al Azhar University.
· Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of “Good”.
· Minimum Institutional (local) TOEFL score of 450 for master's degree and minimum institutional (local) TOEFL score of 500 for Ph.D. from AMIDEAST.
· For non-degree applicants: proof of registered doctoral thesis

| International Fulbright Science and Technology Ph.D. Program |

PROGRAM GOALS:
Provides opportunities for bachelor’s and master’s students for doctoral studies at U.S. institutions in the fields of science, technology and engineering.
ELIGIBLE FIELDS:
Aeronautics and astronomic/aeronautical engineering, agriculture (theoretical or research-based focus only in areas as entomology, plant biology, plant pathology, and soil science), astronomy/planetary sciences, biology, biomedical engineering, chemistry, computer sciences/engineering, energy, engineering (electrical, chemical, civil, mechanical, ocean, and petroleum), environmental science/engineering, geology/earth and atmospheric sciences, information sciences and systems (engineering focus only), materials science/engineering, mathematics, neuroscience/brain and cognitive sciences, oceanography, public health (theoretical research focus only) and physics.

· Masters Degree Grants: up to two years for persons wishing to pursue postgraduate degrees in the U.S.
· Non-degree Grants: six to nine months for persons registered for advanced degrees in Egyptian universities who wish to conduct research in the U.S.
· Fine and Applied Arts Grants: six to nine months for artists who wish to conduct field research or attend master classes with professionals in the U.S.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
· Egyptian citizenship; holders of U.S. green cards and/or passports are ineligible.
· Bachelor's degree. Minimum of “Good” for applicants in American studies, humanities, and social sciences. Minimum of “Very Good” for applicants in the sciences.
· Minimum of two years post-graduate experience at the time of application.
· Minimum institutional (Local-ITP) TOEFL score of 550 from AMIDEAST Egypt: 23 Mossadak Street, Dokki, or 15 Abdel Hamid El Abbady Street, Roushdy, Alexandria, General Tel: 19263 or its iBT, CBT or IELTS equivalent.
· For Fine & Applied Arts applicants: principal participation in at least three artistic activities or exhibitions; No TOEFL score required.
· For Non-Degree applicants: proof of registered masters or doctoral thesis at an Egyptian university.

| Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA) |

PROGRAM GOAL:
The program strengthens foreign language instruction, including Arabic, in American institutions while providing Egyptian teachers of English with opportunities to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency, and expand their knowledge of American society. FLTA fellows teach as many as two Arabic classes at host institutions. They enroll in at least four courses (two per semester), one of which must be in U.S. studies. They also facilitate cultural events, language clubs and language tables in their host institutions.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
· School teachers of English, junior faculty members in English sections at universities or in training to become English teachers.
· Age between 21-29 years on February 1, 2009.
· Bachelors degree.
· Fluency in spoken and written English with a minimum local Paper-Based TOEFL (PBT) score from AmidEast or MASRYA in Sohag of 550 (PBT), Computer-Based TOEFL (CBT) score of 213; Internet-Based TOEFL (IBT) score of 89-90 (IBT), or overall score International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 6.0.
